This beautiful book by Cornelia Funke tells us the story of twelve year old Meggie and her father Mo. Meggie's mother dissapeared when she was just a toddler. Meggie loves reading and her dad, Mo, is a bookbinder, someone who restores books. One night, a stranger comes to the door, a weird character with the name of Dustfinger. Together they start an adventure where Meggie will find the truth about her mother, uncover a dark secret about her father, face evil, save the day while making new friends you cannot imagine and find the power that lies deep within her soul.
This is a book I enjoyed very much, read it twice already and am hoping for the movie to come out soon.
I was so captivated by this book I read it on the train to work, on the bus home, in bed, at the table (not very good manners there, huh?) and anywhere to be able to find what would happen next. It's a story full of stories in it, full of fantasy and imagination. You can even make friend in this book and I assure you, you'll think twice before reading aloud from a book after reading this one!!
My rating? *****
Ages? 10 and up (if younger, they'll need help with vocabulary)
