MUSIC: Michael Tolcher - I Am

Michael Tolcher is talented, that's my first opinion. His songs are filled with heart-felt melodies, with a very personal style when it comes to the combination of sounds and voice.
His lyrics are also amazing with words such as : Why would you work without living Spending your soul What's it worth? Well, I hope you make it to heaven Waiting for life Here on earth. This is from Bad Habits, one of Michael's best known songs and a personal favorite included in my everyday playlist.
If you listen to this song, while chilling, peacefully, you will understand the meaning of its words, the melody will stick to you like glue and you'll find yourself humming t in the shower or while reading a book.
The rest of the album, I have found it to have a song to fit my every mood, to go with different moments of my daily routine, which makes it even more treasurable for me. I am absolutely amazed by this guy and his music.

My rating? *****

MOVIE: Twilight

A few days ago I went to the movies and watched Twilight… a great love story with vampires and action and killings and teenagers… My ten year old son loved it, and so did I!!!
Based on Stephenie Meyer's books (see reviews) this movie is one of the best I have seen in the last few years, you'll be almost able to believe it is possible...
It’s the story of a clumsy average teenager who falls in love with a vampire who corresponds her love in the most passionate and immortal ways. As he later explains, no mortal could love that much, the fragility of mortals would not resist such passion and love.
You will find lots of info on the web, everywhere, but I thought I might just add my little bit. Actors Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen) and Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan) play their parts beautifully. Billy Burke (Charlie Swan), Ashley Green (Alice Cullen), Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale), Kellan Lutz (Emmett Cullen), Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen) and Peter Facinelli (Carlisle Cullen) play both teens’ families, well actually Billy Burke plays Bella’s (Stewart) dad and the rest of the actors mentioned play Edward’s (Pattinson) adoptive family.
This movie is about the truest of loves, family, loyalty and tolerance. DO NOT MISS IT!!!! (Sounded too much like an order???... good… GO) Females will positively fall in love with Edward, it is such a beautifully composed character it will steal your hearts away. Guys will enjoy the vamp action… for sure!!!

By the way, it has an amazing soundtrack (See review) with Paramore, Muse, Rob Pattinson (see review) himself and many others... trully worth every second...

My rating? ***** (if this wasn't my top rating... I'd add more stars)
Ages: 10 and up... younger kids my not understand some things... my son understood and enjoyed the movie.

Hugs and kisses,

ACTOR: Joe Manganiello

Joe Manganiello is an actor who has surprised me, he played Flash Thompson in Spiderman, the guy who fights Peter Parker at school, the one he hits with the tray when he still couldn’t control his spider web.
He’s a great actor making his way straight to the top, step by step doing all the right things. Nowadays, you can see him on One Tree Hill, where he plays Owen, the bartender who dated Brooke. But he’s recently finished Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia, which is available in DVD’s. Joe has a few conditions that assure me he will be a big success in not too long, he’s talented, humble, good looking and takes care of himself… Important qualities for an actor these days.

MUSIC: Graham Colton - Here Right Now

OK, so I finally got my hands on this and I'm not regretting it at all. The songs are great, Graham is young and VERY talented with an amazing voice. The melodies are perfectly balanced with the vocals, and the Lyrics... look at this and see for yourself: "I've got a new years resolution
I think I know what I've gotta do
I've got a new years resolution getttin over you
I've got some old friends I think I'm losing
I've got some new ones that I'm not talking to
But all of my new years resolutions are getting old to you..."
And that is just the first little bit of a song that fits the season perfectly, and fits the romance I'm missing out on these days... anyway, this album got to me, it moved me in many ways and I really recommend it. My son, who is ten, think I've mentioned him before, loved it, he kept asking about the lyrics and has had me listening to it over and over again. Plus, I added Graham on Facebook and guess what? He's nice, really nice, he actually answers to messages and stuff, which shows he cares and these days, that means a lot.

TV SHOWS: One Tree Hill - Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, Bethany Joy Lenz Galeotti

ONE TREE HILL is a TV show on it's sixth season currently airing in the US. It deals with the lifes and loves of teenagers who, through the seasons have grown into young adults and are facing the reponsibilities of age. There's the drama of the two brothers who grew apart, the friendship and how love sometimes turns up in the middle causing problems.
School problems are there too, showing people how life isn't perfect, not even in fairy tales, but how something good can come out even in the worst of scenarios.
You have single moms, young marriages, accidents, suicides and murder. There's always a villain, but as one of the characters says, very wisely, it all depends on how you look at him.
Broken hearts, smiles, a clothes line and GREAT MUSIC BANDS make this show worth every minute.

My rating? *****
Ages? 14 and up (there's many a thing younger kids won't be able to figure out)

MOVIES: Passion of the Christ - James Caveziel

An amazing movie, painful, sad, cruel to the soul and yet, still amazing. James Caveziel plays Jesus, The Christ. This film shows us his last days, while he was tortured by romans, tortured in the worst and most inhuman ways.
And it also shows us how he remembers his friends, his family, those who balieved in him. It shows us the Devil trying to tempt him out of his way, and how he, Jesus, remained loyal to his Father.
It also shows Mary's pain, as a mother, watching his son suffer in such terrible ways, watching this tragedy without being able to do something to help him. But how she got strength from a place only mothers no, and remained as close to him as she possibly could, suffering his pain in her own flesh, begging to die for and with him.
James Caveziel's work in this movie is amazing, the perfection with which he transmits the pain, the faith and the wholehearted love he had for human kind.
How Jesus forgave the little humanity left in those romans who beat him up and spit on him, not only torturing him but denigrating him, is incredibly well transmitted, it's a movie about hope, love and faith, not religion.

My rating? *****
Ages? 16 and up (I don't think a child could ever understand or get over the worst torture scenes)

BOOK: A wrinkle in time - Madeleine L'Engle

Everyone thinks Meg Murry is dull, and that her little brother, Charles Wallace, is dumb. They also think that their physicist father has just left their mother. One night an unearthly stranger, Mrs Whatsit, Meg, Charles Wallace and their friend Calvin O'Keefe begin a dangerous quest through time to find their father. While on this trip, they must face an evil power that is taking over the universe, one planet at a time. This is not science fiction, although it shares elements of it and of classic superhero stories. Thekids must each other and their individual strengths, finding the answers deep within themselves.
Ok, description there, now I must say, I read this entire book in six hours of non-stop reading, not even to eat or to go to the toilet. It is captivating, amazingly entertaining, absolutely easily-read and informative. You'll learn a lot about physics, trust me. I bet most of you haven't a clue what a TESSERACT is... well... now that I've read this book, I know...
Madeleine L'Engle did a great job, it's a book for all ages determined to tangle you in it's story and no let you go until you've finished reading the whole thing.
You'll become Meg or Calvin, luckily, Mrs. Whatsit is such a humongous character, I don't thing any of us will become her, it's too complicated... Plus, she's not the one you will travel with from beginning to end, it's Meg or Charles Wallace or maybe Calvin. Ms. L'Engle has written many books, even with these same characters as they grow older, and they're all as captivating as this one.
Go on, grab the book, read the first few pages and be Meg and the boys' companion in their travels through time and space.

My rating? *****
Ages? 10 and up

MUSIC: Bryan Greenberg - Waiting for now

So, I was just fooling around with my music when I found I had this one, I'd listened to it a couple of weeks ago and had forgotten it, so now I paid real attention to it.
We have some really good music here, a nice young man who can either sing in a soft mellow voice or in a strong powerful voice, Bryan Greenberg, no matter how he sings, his voice has this sweet roughness that I could easily imagine whispering in my ear something good.
The songs, the melodies are great, from mellow to powerful, you have everything in this album. The lyrics, some of them made me laugh, others made me shiver, "They want and bleed and hurt but they keep it covered. Until it's one big lie. They can't stay alone cuz they fear goodbyes, well, they fear goodbyes. They fear goodbyes." I think this guy is a great musician and has a great future in store. He's also an actor, you may have seen him in movies such as Perfect Score and in TV shows such as One Tree Hill. I'll be keeping him in sight, and in my ears, I'd like to see what else Bryan can do!!!

MOVIES: Death Defying Acts - Guy Pierce, Catherine Zeta Jones

In Death Defying Acts Guy Pierce is the amazing Harry Houdini during his last few months. In a tour through Britain he meets Mary McGarvie (yes, that's my last name too) who is a "psychic" and her teenage daughter.
The girl is fascinated by the "magician's" tricks and the mom is fasinated by the man himself. You can enjoy some of Houdini's most famous tricks, a bit of a love story mixed with some life lessons. Both mother and daughter try to con him to contact his dead mother, whose memories have haunted him for years.
The little girl gets some tricks explained to her and learns how to do them while praticing the art of stealing and appearing as a boy.
The whole movie is placed in 1926 in Scotland. The story is not huge, but both Guy and Catherine do good jobs and the tricks are very well re-created. Another great actor in this movie is Timothy Spall
It is a movie to watch calmly and enjoy minute by minute.
If you like real life based stories, you'll like it, if you're into romance, you'll like it, if you look for kicks, fists and tough action, watch something else.

My rating? ***
